Green construction technology company signs commitment demonstrating leadership in the fight against climate change

Thursday, January 27, 2022 (Vancouver/ Unceded Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations) – Nexii Building Solutions Inc. (Nexii), a green construction technology company, this week  announced they have signed the World Green Building Council’s (WorldGBC) Net Zero Buildings Commitment, demonstrating leadership in combating climate change. The Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment (the Commitment) calls on the building and construction sector to decarbonize the built environment, inspire others to take similar action, and remove barriers to implementation.

Nexii will be one of 160 signatories across 28 cities, and six states and regions. The Commitment’s signatories will take action to reduce all portfolio operational carbon emissions by 2030 or earlier and maximize reductions of embodied carbon in new developments or major renovations, compensating for any residual emissions.

“We are delighted to sign the WorldGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment and join other companies dedicated to combating climate change by decarbonizing the built environment,” says Zosia Brown, Nexii Vice President of Sustainability. “We are proud of our innovations in sustainable building materials and products, our work to transform the construction industry, and our focus on creating green jobs that benefit communities. We look forward to working with the WorldGBC and all signatories in leading and advocating for a rapid transition to a net zero carbon future in which healthy, climate resilient and affordable buildings are available to all.”

Nexii is focused on revitalizing the construction industry with technology, innovation, and sustainable building solutions. The company’s sustainable products use a breakthrough building material, Nexiite, that has comparable properties to concrete but contains no Portland cement or lime, significantly reducing end-to-end carbon emissions.

Cristina Gamboa, CEO of the World Green Building Council, says, “In the aftermath of COP26, it is clearer than ever that the built environment must act as a critical climate solution. Businesses and organisations such as those announced today are displaying industry leadership, going further and faster to tackle emissions resulting from the buildings they occupy, own or develop by 2030. Their actions, and those of the other signatories, are sending crucial demand side signals to accelerate the transition towards net zero by the end of the decade.”
