Plant will create 150 highly-skilled jobs in the sustainable building and construction industry

Vancouver/ Traditional Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations — Canadian sustainable building and construction company, Nexii Building Solutions Inc. (Nexii), today announced the development of its first full-scale commercial production plant in Squamish, British Columbia. The plant will create approximately 150 full-time highly-skilled jobs and advance cleantech building and construction innovations.

A new player in the construction industry, Nexii has developed an innovative solution that has the potential to both significantly reduce the construction sector’s impact on the environment and help tackle the global housing crisis. Nexii’s whole building solution is comprised of its proprietary material Nexiite, which together with the efficient Nexii design and assembly process, facilitates the rapid construction of sustainable, cost-efficient, durable and disaster-resilient buildings. As well as being suitable for commercial, institutional, industrial, mixed-use, and residential buildings, Nexii materials can also be used to retrofit existing buildings.

Stephen Sidwell, CEO of Nexii, said: “Squamish is a world-class outdoor destination with unmatched quality of life and proximity to the natural world, and Nexii is proud to contribute to the area’s burgeoning cleantech industry. The development of our first full-scale commercial facility in Canada will allow Nexii to further develop and deploy our green construction technology that will help mitigate the impacts of climate change, while simultaneously being an economic driver in what’s shaping up to be Canada’s clean growth century.”

The development of Nexii’s plant will begin immediately, and it is anticipated that production will begin later this year (2020). When fully operational, Nexii’s plant will provide approximately 150 full-time jobs in the manufacturing, construction, building information modeling and engineering industries.

This news follows the company’s appointment announcement of former Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, to its leadership team.
